Description
Blue and White Meiping Vase with Fruit and Floral Motif
Chinese porcelain Meiping, or “plum vase,” decorated in cobalt blue beneath a clear glaze. The design features lychees, pomegranates, peaches, and grapes arranged in two registers, framed by a band of lotus-petal lappets at the shoulder and stylized plantain leaves above the foot—motifs characteristic of the Yongle period (1403–1424), reflecting the refined craftsmanship of Jingdezhen kilns.
A six-character reign mark, 大明宣德年製 (Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming), is prominently painted on the front of the vase, referencing the emperor’s reign from 1426 to 1435.
