A Masterpiece of Italian Design
The Suora lamp is part of Edizioni Galleria Colombari's prestigious "Omaggio a Carlo Mollino" series, which has been produced since 1994. Each lamp faithfully reproduces Mollino's 1947 prototype, originally designed for an exhibition in New York organized by CADMA (Craft Materials Distribution Commission). That prototype was never put into production—until the Colombari gallery undertook this meticulous recreation nearly fifty years later.
This isn't a mass-produced replica. Each Suora lamp is handmade in Milan with a solid marble base, precision-articulated brass tube construction, and an elaborate parchment shade featuring meticulous hand-stitched leather detailing. The three-joint articulated arm allows infinite positioning possibilities, making it both a sculptural presence and a functional light source.
Museum Provenance
The Suora lamp has been exhibited in major museums throughout Europe, including institutions in Paris, Amsterdam, Darmstadt, and Milan. Examples are held in significant private collections and have appeared at premier auction houses including Wright, Christie's, and Dorotheum, establishing this piece as an important work in Italian design history.
