A pair of wooden side tables on tapered legs, produced by Móveis Artísticos Z (Zanine, Pontes & Cia. Ltda.), São José dos Campos, São Paulo. Retains original manufacturer’s label to the underside.
Founded in 1948 by Zanine Caldas with partners Sebastião Pontes and Paulo Mello, Móveis Artísticos Z pioneered modern plywood furniture in Brazil. Zanine left the company in 1953; the factory burned down in 1961, making labeled Zanine-era pieces scarce.
