Swedish Grace Bergère Chair, Nordiska Kompaniet
Sweden, 1924
A caned bergère chair produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in August 1924, retaining its original brass workshop plaque stamped “A·B·Nordiska Kompaniet / 26897-7 8 24” with an inked “F” cabinetmaker’s mark. The form is pure Swedish Grace featuring a curved caned back and sides, turned and fluted tapered legs, and carved rosettes at the leg joints. Caning intact throughout. Velvet seat cushion is a later replacement. A documented, labeled NK piece from 1924 – three years before Axel Einar Hjorth took over as chief architect and defined the workshop’s most collected era.
